How to set up 2 Factor Authentication with Authy

To download and set up the Authy app:

 

  1. Visit your mobile app store, and search “Authy.” It looks like this: 

  2. Download the app and follow the instructions to get your account setup within Authy, by putting in your email address and mobile phone number.

  3. In Alfred, hover over your name in the top right corner and select account settings.

  4. Under your name, email and phone number there will be a toggle button for 2 Factor Authentication.

  5. Turn that button on and enter your email, the country code (put 1 if you're in the United States), and your phone number in the format 555-555-5555

  6. You are all set!

Why set up Authy? 

 

Once setup, Authy will send you a push notification through the Authy app on your mobile phone, that requires you to approve it anytime you log into Alfred. This is a valuable extra layer of security that ensures there is not anyone else accessing your Alfred account other than you. You can turn this feature off in your Alfred account settings.
