Prep lists for steps I, II and III

Instructions

These are the categories and types of information to have handy as you go through the premium planning tool! If a category doesn't apply to you (for example, you haven’t served in the military), or if you would prefer not to include information within a category for any reason, you are welcome to leave it blank. Just remember that the more info your plan includes, the more helpful it will be to your loved ones. We wish you the best of luck in your planning journey!

Step I (Estimated planning time: 10-30 minutes)

Essential categories (included with all plans)

  • Personal info

    • Example: Your name, legal address, DOB, SSN

  • Military or government service

    • Example: name and contact information for branch of service, and location of service record hard copies.

  • Funeral wishes

    • Example: name and contact information about where you’d like your funeral held, and any specific wishes for your funeral program.

  • Pre-paid funeral info

    • Example: name and contact information about any pre-paid funeral or burial policies you’ve purchased, and what they include, as well as any copies of the purchase receipt or account statement you’d like to upload.

  • IDs

    • Example: information for one or more of your legal, government-issued photo IDs, with option to upload a copy.

  • Devices:

    • Example: device model and passcode information for one or more of your personal computers and mobile devices.

Step II (Estimated planning time: 15-90 minutes)

Practical Plan categories (included with Practical and Pro Plans)

  • Legal

    • Example: name and contact information about your estate attorney; information about any legal documents you have (legal will, trust, etc) including uploading a copy of it; and name and contact information about any legal representatives appointed within that document (executor of the will, legal trustee, etc).

  • Online accounts and passwords

    • Example: information about any of your online accounts, like email, social media, streaming, etc., and any specific instructions you have regarding closing them.

  • Financial

    • Example: information about your financial accounts, including the type of account, where it’s held, their phone number, the account number, and any account statements or beneficiary forms or other beneficiary name and contact information you wish to include; name and contact information for your financial advisor and/or tax accountant. 

  • Expenses

    • Example: information about your monthly expenses, including the company and their contact information, your account number, the amount and frequency of the bill, the date it’s paid and what other account of yours it comes out of, and any account statements you wish to include.

Preserver Plan categories (included with Preserver and Pro Plans)

  • Immediate family

    • Example: contact information, photos, and memories about your partner; contact information, photos, memories, and guardian docs (if applicable) for any of your children; breed information, vet information, memories, photos, and guardian (if applicable) information for any of your pets.

  • Extended family

    • Example: personal information, contact information, memories and photos for any extended family members; personal information, contact information, memories and photos for any friends. 

  • Legacy (a)

    • Example: photo, video, or audio files you wish to include (up to 3), including the file, its description, the original date(s) it was created, and the person to share it with; also journal or family history files you wish to include (up to 3), including the file, its description, the original date(s) it was created, and the person to share it with; also, if you don’t have any journal or family history files, there are spaces provided to capture some that can be saved as part of your alfred plan.

  • Legacy (b)

    • Example: heirlooms and possessions information including the item name, its physical location, the year its from, additional description and memories with the item including the option to upload any photos or files associated with it; also the option to record any charitable giving instructions you wish to leave, including the organization name and contact info, description of your wishes, and any photos or files associated with these wishes.

Step III (Estimated planning time: 5-10 minutes)

Sharing preferences (included with all plans)

  • Plan sharing settings

    • Example: name and contact email address of the person(s) you wish to have your plan shared with, as well as whether you would like them to be able to view all your plan’s content now (not recommended) or only upon your passing.

  • Schedule your plan update reminder

    • Example: schedule an automated reminder (by email) to review and update your plan either one, two, three, or four years from now. ​
