This Privacy Policy discloses the privacy practices for the www.alfredta.com site, and various related services (together referred to as the "site"), provided by Alfred Transition Assistant Incorporated (referred to as "us", or "we", or “Alfred Transition Assistant”). Please read the information below to learn the following regarding your use of this site. The term “site” includes any app that we create and operate with our site. 

 

You acknowledge that this Privacy Policy is part of the Alfredta Terms of Use, and by accessing or using our site, you agree to be bound by all of the terms and conditions contained within this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use. Please consult this Privacy Policy regularly.

 

We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time. If we change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page and update the "Last Updated" date above.  Such changes, modifications, additions, or deletions shall be effective immediately upon any update. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this site and this Privacy Policy periodically, and to be aware of any modifications. Your continued use of the site after such modifications will constitute your: (a) acknowledgment of the modified Privacy Policy; and (b) agreement to abide and be bound by the modified Privacy Policy. 1. The services provided on the site are not directed to individuals under the age of 13. In the event that we discover that a child under the age of 13 has provided personally identifiable information to us, we will make efforts to delete the child’s information if required by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. Types of Information Collected

In order to better provide you with our numerous services, we collect two types of information about our users: Personally Identifiable Information and Non-Personally Identifiable Information. Our primary goal in collecting information from you is to provide you with the services made available on our site.

 

Personally Identifiable Information: This refers to information that is specific to you or that would otherwise identify you. This information includes your name, your phone number, your email and postal addresses, and your credit card and other financial information.  If you create a username and password on site, we also treat that information as Personally Identifiable Information. You generally provide Personally Identifiable Information to us. When you engage in certain activities on this site, such as registering for a membership, ordering a product or service, filling out a survey, or sending us feedback, we may ask you to provide certain information about yourself by filling out and submitting an online form. It is completely optional for you to elect to engage in these activities; however, we ask that you provide us personal information, which includes your first and last name, user name and password. When ordering products or services on the site, you may be asked to provide a credit card number. Depending upon the activity, some of the information we ask you to provide is identified as mandatory and some as voluntary. If you do not provide the mandatory data with respect to a particular activity, you will not be able to engage in that activity.

 

Non-Personally Identifiable Information: This refers to information any information we collect from or about you that is not Personally Identifiable Information. We gather certain information about you based upon where you visit on our site in several ways. This information may include the Web site's Uniform Resource Locator ("URL") that you just came from, which URL you next go to, what browser you are using, your mobile device identification number, and your Internet Protocol ("IP") address. We also collect information when you are interacting on our site through cookies, web beacons and other automated means that collect information about your activity on our site. Finally, Non-Personally Identifiable Information includes anonymized and aggregated Personally Identifiable Information. 

 

2. How We Use the Information We Collect

We may use your all information we collect from or about you to operate our business, develop new products and services. For example, we use information: (i) to deliver the services you request, (ii) to improve our site, services, features and content, (iii) to enable you to enjoy and easily navigate our site, (iv) to personalize your experience, (v) to provide or offer software updates and product announcements, (vi) to monitor and analyze use of our site and our services, (vii) to administer our site, (viii) to generate and derive useful data and information concerning the interests, characteristics and site use behavior of our users, and (ix) to verify that visitors to our web site meet the criteria required to process their requests. We reserve the right to compile and share aggregated information about our users, transactions completed using our service, sales, and traffic, though we will not share this information in a manner that permits the identification of a specific user. We may also use information to show advertising on our site or provide it to third parties as provided in this Privacy Policy. 

 

We may also use your Personally Identifiable Information to provide customer support; resolve technical issues; provide technical support or customer support; assist with entering, editing, or updating information in your account; respond to requests for assistance; analyze reported problems; and repair and improve the products, services and web sites offered by Alfred Transition Assistant.

3. Release of Information

When you elect to share your Alfred Transition Assistant profile information with another designated adult, you authorize Alfred Transition Assistant to make your information visible to that person and you authorize that person to use your account in a manner intended by our services.  When you elect to share your Alfred Transition Assistant profile information with another adult only upon death, your information will remain private until such event occurs.  Upon your death, the designated adult will be able to alert Alfred Transition Assistant that you have been “Declared Dead” through their use of the site, and your Alfred profile will be made visible to that person according to your authorization and permissions. 

When you share your Alfred Transition Assistant profile with a designated adult upon your death, the person you authorize will receive a prompt to create a personal profile with Alfred Transition Assistant.  Upon your death, the designated adult will submit a notification of death through their own Alfred Transition Assistant profile, which may require the designated adult to upload of a photocopy of your certified death certificate, upload their own identification, verify his or her own identity and/or such other procedures we may implement from time to time.  Upon receipt of this uploaded information, Alfred Transition Assistant will release your profile information to the designated adult, according to your authorization and permissions.

 

To protect your privacy and ensure the identity of your authorized designated adult, access to an Alfred Transition Assistant personal profile is protected by password and is currently dually authenticated by requiring the user to sign into their own email address.  We may update or revise this verification process at any time in order to adopt new technologies or practices we feel is reasonable to both protect your account when authenticating a request by an authorized designated adult to access the same.  

 

You agree to Alfred Transition Assistant’s procedure for notification of death and understand that if you elect to share your profile with a designated adult after your death, your information will be released to the designated adult after they complete Alfred Transition Assistant’s procedure for notification of death through the site.

 

You may use Alfred Transition Assistant to make an end of life plan for a person that is not yourself. By uploading information to a profile, you verify that you have obtained such information legally and with the consent of the person for whom you are creating an Alfred Transition Assistant plan.  Alfred is not liable for members uploading any information that has been illegally or improperly obtained.

4. How Do We Share Your Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your Personally Identifiable Information to any third parties except as provided in this Privacy Policy. 

 

We may provide Personally Identifiable Information to the appropriate governmental authorities when required by law or in legal proceedings. We will disclose Personally Identifiable Information upon receipt of a court order, subpoena, or to cooperate with a law enforcement investigation. We reserve the right to report to law enforcement agencies any activities that we in good faith believe to be unlawful. We may also share Personally Identifiably Information with third party vendors who are providing services for us and who agree to (i) only use Personally Identifiable Information for the services they provide for us, and (ii) otherwise keep Personally Identifiable Information confidential. 

 

Additionally, we may sell, transfer or otherwise share some or all of our assets, including your Personally Identifiable Information, in connection with a corporate transaction such as a merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets. In any such event, you will receive notice if your data is transferred and becomes subject to a substantially different privacy policy. 

 

We may share Non-Personally Identifiable Information with third parties to the fullest extent allowed by law. 

4. User Choices on Collection and Use of Information

 

You also have choices with respect to cookies, as described below. By modifying your browser preferences, you have the choice to accept all cookies, to be notified when a cookie is set, or to reject all cookies. If you choose to reject all cookies some parts of our site may not work properly in your case.

5. Security of Information

 

While we will use what we believe are appropriate measures to prevent unauthorized access to your account and information, we do not promise and you should not expect that your information will always remain secure. We encourage you to follow the FTC’s advice located at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/menus/consumer/data.shtm for information about how to protect yourself against identity theft. You agree to exercise discretion and caution when sharing any Personally Identifiable Information on the publicly-viewable pages of our site, as that information will be publicly available and can be collected and used by others.

6. Cookies

When you use our site we may store cookies on your computer in order to facilitate and customize your use of our site. A cookie is a small data text file, which a Web site stores on your computer's hard drive (if your Web browser permits) that can later be retrieved to identify you to us. Our cookies store randomly assigned user identification numbers, the country where you are located, and your first name to welcome you back to our site. The cookies make your use of the site easier, make the site run more smoothly, and help us to maintain a secure site. You are always free to decline our cookies if your browser permits, but some parts of our site may not work properly in that case.
